Exhibition at Clara M. Eagle Gallery, MSU, Murray, KY

Annie Strader and Matthew Weedman’s collaborative work examines personal history, issues of traditional feminine/masculine gender roles and how these ideals are imbedded in objects, materials, images and sounds.

Their work draws upon research into the histories of early 20^thcentury technology, consumer spiritualism, magic and their points of intersection to touch on themes of Illusion, disappearance, absence, and loss.

Hope at the Outset

Unfired porcelain, bell jars, teacups, ash, milk and sound. Audio of a heartbeat moves slowly from one teacup to the other via audio exciters built into the table

Impenetrate

Collaboration with Matthew Weedman

Commissioned for “It’s a Phase,” site specific projects in Russ Pitman Park, Houston, TX. Curator: Divya Murphy.

Impenetrate is visible from the walking path in Russ Pitman Park intending to invite curious visitors to explore things that are detours or not marked territory. The work is designed to reference a ruin or past occupancy as well as a sort of monument to the domestic life that surrounds the park grounds.
